The Seychelles Archipelago includes
some of the oldest isolated Oceanic islands in the world dating well
over 650 million years. It is agreed that it was parts of the
extensive Super Continent of Gondwanaland linking Africa,
Madagascar, India, Antarctica and Australia. The separation happened
about 75 million years ago.
Seychelles lies 4º South and 56º East, perfect
condition for broad leaved rain forest and magnificent Palms.
The Seychelles
enjoys a warm tropical climate where temperature vary very little
throughout the year. The drier season is during the South east
monsoon (April to September) and a moderately rainy season during
the East monsoon (October to March). The temperature rangers from
26º to 28º C.
The first human
settlement on these Islands was in the 1770’s and the vegetation has
been undisturbed. Seychelles has now a multicultural
population of over 80.000 people.
